Santa Cruz do Sul Santa Cruz do Sul is located in the hillside of Serra do Mar, a tobacco region and it is considered one of the most important  areas of German colonization in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. With a population of around 120.000 inhabitants it is a high industrialized area, internationally known as the world´s tobacco capital. Santa Cruz do Sul also holds Luiz Beck da Silva Airport, with a runway area of 1.180m.
